Tips & Tricks: Perfecting your "finished" quilt

Almost always the finished top doesn't have straight edges like the quilt tops that are assembled of a couple of identical blocks such as log cabin, for example. Following are some suggestions how to handle this fact which sometimes might appear as a little problem.

1. You keep the edge as is; sometimes table runners and wall hangings are much more interesting and unique with their angled edges.

2. You create a straight edge by adding parts of the shapes used in the top like half hexagons sewn between hexagons.

3. You applique the whole top as is on a layer of background fabric.

4. By creating an identical „second“ top for the back of your original top you'll get reversible quilt and will have two quilts instead of just one. The only rule: you just have to pay attention to the outer shape of the top, everything else is optional, for example the size of the pieces or the arrangement of colors and patterns
